Nintendo Switch 2 has set an impressive new sales record, moving over two million units in Japan. The newest sales chart indicates that the Nintendo Switch 2 is continuing to surpass other consoles in terms of current sales.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been off to a stellar start, even outpacing the original Switch's sales. With more major hitters arriving for the Switch 2 in the future, like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, there's a good chance that these numbers will continue to rise. However, the system has already achieved a new feat.
According to Famitsu, the Switch 2 is still leading hardware sales in Japan, and has just surpassed 2 million total sales in the country. While this is relatively minor compared to the six million units the Switch 2 has sold overall worldwide, the fact that Japan has achieved a third of that figure on its own is quite impressive. Interestingly, the Switch 2 met this same milestone in the US less than a month prior, in late August 2025. The system is currently outpacing other consoles, including the original Switch, with the Switch 2 selling about 44,000 units...
