In the latest hit to adult games on Steam, developers are reportedly no longer allowed to publish NSFW updates.
That's according to Tales of Legendary Lust studio Crimson Delight, who explained in a Steam blog post, "We had plans to add a few more lewd scenes to the base game while working on the DLC, but Valve doesn't allow post-launch NSFW content for an app that's already been through their review process and has released on the store."
There is nothing we can do about this - it's their rule, and breaking it would result in the game being removed from Steam.
Although there has been no update to Valve's terms of service mentioning this rule, if Crimson Delight is to be believed, then it could be an effort to prevent games from becoming NSFW through updates, thereby bypassing Steam's review process entirely.
However, in practice, that would mean existing adult games are prohibited from releasing free content updates.
