Resident Evil Requiem Pricing Suggests That The 'Switch Tax' Might Be A Thing Of The Past

If we're recapping some of the most anticipated games of 2026, Resident Evil Requiem is undoubtedly at the top of that list.

At the end of this month's Nintendo Direct, we had the surprise announcement that the newest entry in the Resident Evil franchise will be making its way to Nintendo Switch 2, along with its excellent predecessors, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village.

I fully expected the latter to take place; they're both older games and, in theory, easy to port to Nintendo's newest console. But to see the newest game also be making its way to a Nintendo platform, especially given the graphical limitations compared to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, is a bit of a surprise.

While the Switch 2 trailer for Requiem still looked pretty good visually, there's no denying that it will pale in comparison to the graphics on PS5 and Xbox. Perhaps that's one reason why the suggested price is a little cheaper on the Switch 2.
