It feels like just yesterday I was sitting down for the Xbox Developer Direct, which revealed Ninja Gaiden 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black as a surprise shadow drop.
Now, here we are; I'm in a new apartment, and Xbox is broadcasting its Tokyo Game Show 2025 showcase.
It's been an eventful year for Xbox. There's plenty of good, as three Game Pass games are in this year's top five rated games on Metacritic (we all agree that Breath of the Wild and Twilight Princess shouldn't count, right?) There's also been plenty of bad, including layoffs, studio closures, and the cancellation of games such as Perfect Dark.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently told CNBC that the company has to rebuild trust with its employees. Righting the wrongs from this year's layoffs and using that to prevent more layoffs, an issue that has plagued the game industry as of late, can go a long way to rebuilding that trust.
