On September 25, Nintendo announced that Doug Bowser would retire as President of Nintendo of America (NOA) effective December 31, 2025. Nintendo also confirmed that Bowser will be succeeded as NOA President by Devon Pritchard, the branch's current executive vice president of revenue, marketing, and consumer experience, starting January 1, 2026.

Bowser's upcoming retirement will take place over six years after he succeeded Reggie Fils-Aime as NOA's fourth President in April 2019. Before his time as Nintendo of America's President, Bowser served as the company's senior vice president of sales and marketing, where he oversaw the North American launch of the Nintendo Switch system in 2017. Bowser originally joined Nintendo of America in 2015, and became it's leader just four years later. Upon becoming NOA's President, Nintendo fans quickly pointed out that Bowser's last name is coincidentally shared with the Super Mario franchise's iconic antagonist.

After overseeing the launch of the Switch 2, which sold over two million units in the US by late August 2025, Bowser's time with Nintendo will soon come to an end. According to Nintendo's press release on Business Wire, Bowser will retire as President and COO of Nintendo of America effective December 31, 2025....
