Exclusive: “There Was So Much Trial And Error” - Pragmata Director Reveals The Reason For The Game’s Indefinite Delay, But Doesn’t Regret Revealing It So Early

Pragmata was first revealed to much intrigue in 2020. The title was slated to release in 2022, before it was pushed to 2023, and as release approached, it was delayed indefinitely.

The final delay was revealed as part of a 2023 Capcom showcase, with the company saying it “must further postpone the release of Pragmata” because it “needs more time”. Unsurprisingly, Capcom has remained quiet about the reason for this delay.

Ahead of its 2026 release, we got to speak to the Pragmata team at Tokyo Game Show, with the game’s director, Cho Yonghee, detailing to TheGamer exactly why the game needed more time.

During our chat, Yonghee shared that while the core premise and concept of the game hadn’t changed, implementing the game’s signature puzzle hacking element was a challenge.

”It’s a big reason for it [the delay],” Yonghee says. “There was so much trial and error and back and forth just to see what could land and what works best.”

Producer Naoto Oyama then expands on Yonghee’s points. ”Having the two mechanics, Diana’s hacking and Hugo shooting, has been one of the causes for us to put more time into that game,” he says. “We took our time...
