The latest installment in the series formally known as FIFA, EA Sports FC 26, is here, and, as is often the case, it isn't getting glowing reviews on Steam. Critics seem to think otherwise, as EA Sports FC currently has the highest review scores the series has received since way before it stopped calling itself FIFA.
Before you get too excited, that score still isn't high enough to have it competing for a Game of the Year spot alongside the likes of Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong. EA Sports FC currently has an 82 on OpenCritic, meaning it's the first game carrying the EA Sports FC name to surpass a score of 80, and officially the best game in the series since FIFA 18, which scored an 84.
Despite achieving its highest review score in eight years, FIFA, and now EA Sports FC, tends to fall into that same high 70s, low 80s bracket. That means even the tiniest of changes, or a few reviewers deciding the series deserves a nine this year instead of a seven, can be the difference between a new installment seeming more or less the same, or one that might just be the fresh...
