A Lord of the Rings Version of Hogwarts Legacy Is Rumored To Be In Development

There have been plenty of highs and lows in the world of The Lord of the Rings video games.

Take, for example, some of the movie tie-in games from the early 2000s. The Two Towers and Return of the King are both excellent action hack 'n slash titles that I spent way too much time playing. In the modern era, there have certainly been some lows (looking at you, Gollum), but there have been some memorable releases as well, notably the Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games.

July saw the release of Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, as a cozy life simulator, but it didn't resonate well with critics or users. Despite the dream of being able to live in the world of Middle-earth, it wasn't worth the time or investment.

Despite the poor reception of Gollum and Tales of the Shire, there's still more Lord of the Rings games in the works, and we may learn about them sooner rather than later.
