Mass Effect And Star Wars Jedi Fans Are Already Fearing The Worst Following EA's Acquisition

EA confirmed acquisition rumors on Monday, revealing it is in the process of being bought by a consortium for $55 billion. It will take a while for the acquisition to be finalized and for the fate of the studio and its games to become clear, but fans of some series, most notably single-player experiences, are already bracing themselves for the worst.

No fans are more fearful for what might be coming than those waiting for the next Mass Effect game. Despite the odd reassurance that everything is okay and development on a new Mass Effect game is ongoing, the situation at BioWare already feels shaky after Dragon Age: The Veilguard underperformed. There's every chance the new owners, which include Saudi Arabia's Private Investment Fund, look at how much Mass Effect costs, and how long it's been in development, and cancel it.

Quite a few Mass Effect fans immediately took to social media following the acquisition's confirmation, already resigning themselves to the fact that while it might not happen right away, eventually, the new game will get canceled.
