Ten years on from its release, Rock Band 4, the final game in the series, is about to leave all digital storefronts. Developers have confirmed that the ten-year licensing agreement in place for the songs used in the base game comes to an end this week, which means it will need to be taken down on October 5, 2025.

The announcement that Rock Band 4 is not long for this world was made via the developers behind the game on the Rock Band Discord (thanks, Wario64). "The original licenses for the core soundtrack are expiring," the statement reads. "Because of that, Rock Band 4 will be removed from the PlayStation and Xbox digital stores."

A game being unavailable to buy unless you're lucky enough to stumble upon a physical copy out in the wild is always bad news, but there is some good news to go along with this announcement. For starters, if you already own Rock Band 4, or you buy it before it gets delisted on October 5, it won't disappear come the end of the week. It will be yours to keep and play whenever you like, and can even be transferred between systems whenever...
