New information about the Ubisoft-Tencent subsidiary has been formally announced, as Vantage Studios is a fresh entity tasked with creating games in the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises.
It was revealed back in March that Tencent invested a whopping $1.25 billion USD for a stake in a new Ubisoft studio that would focus on its more prolific franchises. The form of that new studio was unknown, but considering the endless waves of lay-offs in the industry, fans weren’t brimming with anticipation.
The Ubisoft website has revealed that the subsidiary is called Vantage Studios and will be led by Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes. As previously reported, this studio is focused solely on three franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.
Vantage Studios Promises A Lot – But Can It Deliver?
According to the website, Vantage Studios wants to have a “streamlined approach allows for both a higher level of autonomy for developers and a shorter pathway between gathering and implementing player feedback, while still offering the benefit of Ubisoft's expertise, services, tools, and tech.”
