Former professional League of Legends player Yillang "Peter" "Doublelift" Peng has been temporarily banned by Riot Games for playing on a fresh account purchased for use in an 'Unranked to Challenger' challenge.
League of Legends accounts need to be at least level 30 to play ranked, which predictably leads to players buying accounts that have been levelled by bots, rather than spending the time to hand-level them.
Account buying has been a practice that has existed since the inception of League of Legends, as players use new accounts to evade bans, 'reset' their matchmaking rating (MMR) or as 'smurf accounts', i.e. accounts ranked lower than someone's main account, usually used when players want to practice or play less seriously.
These accounts used to be more expensive, but the advent of more advanced botting techniques has driven the price all the way down to a couple of dollars, meaning almost anyone can afford new accounts whenever they want.
