Ubisoft has announced another round of layoffs, this time concentrated at Trials studio RedLynx, and it sounds like the developer is about to undergo a pretty significant restructuring operation as well.
As revealed in a post on the official RedLynx website, Ubisoft's "restructuring proposal" for RedLynx is part of the publisher's "efforts to simplify, reduce costs, and ensure a stronger prioritization and efficiency" across its network of studios around the world.
Collective negotiations are set to begin on October 30th and should conclude by the end of November. If the proposal goes through, it will result in "the reduction of maximum 60 positions", so anywhere up to that number of staff members could lose their jobs.
The restructuring proposal would, if implemented, see RedLynx refocusing its efforts "from a multiplatform setup to a studio specialized in small screens", which pretty much appears to be a fancy way of saying RedLynx would become a largely mobile gaming-focused studio.
That's reinforced by Ubisoft's comment that this move would allow RedLynx to "leverage [its] unique expertise - starting with two unannounced mobile projects the studio is leading".
