Obsidian's third and biggest game of 2025, The Outer Worlds 2, is nearly here, and it's positive reviews have just about put it above Fallout: New Vegas.
This year has been a big one for gaming in general, but there's no developer out there who has worked quite as hard as Obsidian. After kicking off the year with Avowed, the team then followed that up with a surprise sequel to Grounded, and it's looking to end that winning streak with the long-awaited The Outer Worlds 2.
We're just a few days away from The Outer World 2's launch but, before we get there, reviews for the game have just started dropping. So far, it seems like The Outer Worlds 2 is a big step up from the first game, as it's currently rocking an 85 score on Metacritic and 79 on OpenCritic.
Let's start off with TheGamer's review first, which was written by Deputy News Lead and our very own RPG freak, Rhiannon Bevan. Rhi gave The Outer Worlds 2 a strong 4/5, praising the RPG mechanics and companions, while being a little let down by the overall setting and "fine" gameplay.
