You can ask Naoki Hamaguchi all sorts of things. The director of the in-progress Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has shared a wellspring of opinions from his uniquely-qualified perspective as one of the biggest modern names at Square Enix, and clearly, he isn't slowing down. In fact, it seems like in recent months he's either been hard at work on Part 3 or answering media queries. Those of us in the biz don't exactly mind.

Just the other day, Hamaguchi weighed in on the ever-present debate encircling AI. Specifically, generative AI; you know, the most controversial field of all. The one that might just replace millions upon millions of creators in years to come. Not that I, a writer, should ever worry over such a grim future. In any case, Hamaguchi's response put me at ease a bit; it's always good to see someone in a prominent role take (something of) a stand. Whether it will ultimately matter, who's to say. But it's nice.
