For all its plaudits, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been slammed by the game's Chinese-speaking community for its botched Simplified Chinese version. It's one of the few reasons that Silksong received double Hollow Knight's total negative Steam review count within its first week. Following the backlash, Team Cherry confirmed it was on the case.
After a couple of immediate fixes to the language options, the developers have now found a permanent solution to the issue, confirming that the game's now-released version will use a fan translation.
In its latest patch notes for Hollow Knight: Silksong's fourth major update, Team Cherry confirmed that it had "Updated [the] Simplified Chinese translation to use fan translation provided by Team Cart Fix."
Giving more details on the translation, the developers said, "Team Cart Fix's translation has been well received by the community. Their approach builds from elements of the original translation, retaining existing names for characters and places, except in instances where the original translation was incorrect, or inconsistent with Hollow Knight."
It's a great solution to one of Silksong's outstanding issues, and it shows Team Cherry's commitment to the game.
The rest of the update (version number 1.0.29120) is mostly focused on...
