The Switch 2's library of games is a mixed bag. There are some great first-party offerings, but we're not seeing a great deal of third-party titles just yet. In fact, one of them - the Elden Ring port - has been delayed after performance issues came to light. Similarly, other games that are coming to the console will be ported long after their initial release, like Borderlands 4, which still doesn't have a Switch 2 release date.
However, Square Enix has given us a glimmer of hope throughout all of this with its upcoming port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. Previews have shown that it runs on the system incredibly well, even in handheld mode, hardly sacrificing on the game's visuals. Now, game director Naoki Hamaguchi tells us that we should expect the same level of quality from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's port, whenever that may be.
Speaking with VGC, Hamaguchi says that the team is "working very hard" to ensure that Rebirth runs just as well on Switch 2, and that the team's experience optimising it for PC and Steam Deck will help in that endevour.
