Releasing an extraction shooter in 2025 is risky business. The team behind Arc Raiders doesn't seem too worried, though. In fact, it's already talking about how the game might look if it stands the test of time and we're all still playing it ten years from now.
That's pretty bold for a game that, at the time of typing this, was released less than 48 hours ago. There's a reason why the game's executive producer, Aleksander Grøndal, is already talking about what Arc Raiders might look like in 2035, though, and it was prompted by a deep dive into the game's lore.
Arc Raiders' world is under attack by aliens that randomly fell from the sky one day. Why those robots are here and what they want hasn't really been explained, and I wouldn't expect a definitive answer anytime soon. "What has happened to this world? It's a big question, because the raiders, they don't know anymore. That's kind of lost to myth, so they're trying to piece it together," Grøndal explained to PC Gamer.
