With how infamously litigious Nintendo is, going after everything from piracy subreddit moderators to Palworld for its monster-catching mechanics, you'd assume that it's common sense not to stream illegally downloaded games before they've launched. Well, not only did Jesse 'EveryGameGuru' Keighin do just that, but when Nintendo sued them last year, they sent a letter taunting the console giant.
Keighin bragged that they "can do this all day" and that they have "a thousand burner channels" to stream from.
"Should have done more research on me," they posted on Facebook. "You might run a corporation. I run the streets." As reported by Torrent Freak, Keighin destroyed evidence and repeatedly evaded attempts to serve them, joking on X about how they were going to make Nintendo waste "a ton of money" on legal fees, waving "Bowser's Bankruptcy Magic Wand" to ensure it gets nothing.
In response, the court allowed them to be served via letters to their mother, grandmother, and partner. Keighin still failed to respond to the deadline, so the court approved a default judgment, continuing the case without them. In the end, Nintendo won out, and Keighin was ordered to pay $17,500 for copyright infringement.
