Steam Players Have Found A Way To Bypass The UK's Age Restrictions

Steam now requires users to store a credit card on their account in the UK if they wish to purchase adult games, in compliance with the Online Safety Act.

It's an imperfect measure, as not everyone over the age of 18 has a credit card. However, u/emmathepony discovered an easy workaround that completely circumvents these new restrictions.

"If you're unable or aren't willing to give Valve your credit card, you can still legally buy 18+ games on Steam as normal," they explained. "It's very easy. All you need to do is click 'add to cart' when said game is on your wishlist... that's it!"

There's one problem: you can't view adult games if you haven't verified that you're over the age of 18, let alone wishlist them. Thankfully, there's an easy solution for that, too.

"Simply add the SteamDB extension to your browser, go to the game's store page on SteamDB, and click the 'add to wishlist' button at the top," they explained. "That's it, that's all there is to it. Now, go to your Steam wishlist, and your game is on there, ready to legally purchase. You can remove the SteamDB extension if you wish."
