Randy Pitchford Says That Some Borderlands 4 Players Might Not Ever See A Pearlescent Gun

Borderlands 4's Randy Pitchford has claimed in a recent interview that the upcoming Pearlescent rarity won't even be seen by some players, as they'll have to be "working really hard at it".

As any Borderlands veteran knows, the best part of every game in the series is grinding it out to get the rarest and weirdest guns you possibly can. Borderlands 4's currently only has four levels of weapon rarity, ranging from the lowly common arms you're likely to trade for cash to the aptly named Legendary guns that are much harder to find.

While Legendary guns are already tough enough to track down in Borderlands 4, they're not actually the rarest gun type in the game. Or at least, they won't be in the future, as Gearbox has previously confirmed that Pearlescent guns are going to be returning in a Q1 2026 update and, from what Randy Pitchford has said, they sound incredibly rare.
