It's been a tough 12 months for Call of Duty. Black Ops 6 launched to a myriad of complaints about its maps, microtransactions, and, of course, skill-based matchmaking, causing it to lose 50 percent of its players in under two months (compared to Modern Warfare 3's six percent over that same period). During that time, the game was hit with accusations of using generative AI and saw its player count plateau at record-low numbers.
While these numbers recovered, with each new season bringing players back, the last few weeks have seen further declines, resulting in the game having its lowest-ever weekend player count on Steam.
This past weekend (November 1/November 2), Call of Duty's peak player count on Steam (according to SteamDB) was the lowest it has ever been. Combined, the game's peak over the two days totaled 112,643 players. It wasn't that long ago that the game was peaking at that number on just one of the two weekend days.
