Few video game franchises were legitimately "ahead of their time" quite like Just Cause. The open-world action-adventure series had a massive emphasis on destruction and movement all within a beautifully detailed island with varying geographies.
Unfortunately, since Just Cause 4 in 2018, we've not seen a new entry in the franchise, and if you were hoping for a Just Cause 5, it seems like that isn't likely to happen.
In a post shared on Twitter, Avalanche Studios co-founder Cristofer Sundberg called the prospect of a Just Cause 5 a "no-go," largely because so much of the original team is no longer around.
While there's nothing stopping a new team from moving forward, it seems like so much of the game's creativity and life came from those original developers that Just Cause 5 wouldn't hit the same.
It's worth noting that Avalanche does not own the Just Cause IP, and the only thing stopping us from getting a Just Cause 5 is Square Enix.
