The title of highest rated game of the year has been passed so many times in 2025 that I have lost track of who was leading the back and when. With Hades 2 settling on a 94, I didn't expect to be writing about the crown changing hands yet again, but here we are, right on the cusp of Game of the Year season, and two new games have managed to match Hades 2's review scores.
Those games are Arc Raiders and The Seance of Blake Manor, two games I didn't expect to score quite as highly as they have for very different reasons. Both of them currently have a 94 on OpenCritic, tying them for first place in the race to be the best-reviewed game of 2025.
Technically, The Seance of Blake Manor is the best-reviewed game of the year right now. OpenCritic doesn't drill down into the decimal places, but in its rankings, Blake Manor is above Hades 2, which means it must have a slightly higher score than Supergiant's hit sequel.
