Nintendo Says Mario And Zelda Movies Are Just The First Step

As a Nintendo fan since I was a little kid, I have always dreamed about what it would be like to see iconic franchises, such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, and Metroid, come to life on the big screen, with adaptations that do justice to the original material.

Now, it seems that we are finally living in that era! After kicking things off with The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the Japanese company just warned us that there is a lot more to come.

Nintendo Teases a Steady Wave of Film Adaptations for the Years Ahead

In a financial report revealed this Wednesday, Nintendo shared that it has some big-screen ambitions for the years ahead to keep up the good pace.

According to Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo’s current president, the company plans to maintain a “consistent release cadence” for films based on its iconic franchises from now on – starting with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in 2026, followed by a live-action Legend of Zelda movie in 2027, and even more titles in the future.

So it sounds like we won't have to wait years between Nintendo movies anymore (like we are waiting for the next animated Mario...
