Beenox, the studio behind Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, updated its banner image on social media on Wednesday night, then quickly took it down when people spotted a Crash Team Racing image that doesn't match up with any game in the series.
The image, which was part of a montage alongside other games Beenox has worked on, put Crash's design from Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, into a kart. The direct sequel to the original Crash trilogy was released a year after Beenox's Crash Team Racing remaster, and the updated Crash Bandicoot design does not appear in the polished CTR game.
As if the image alone wasn't enough to send Crash fans into overdrive, after screenshots of it were shared online, sparking people to start spinning theories, Beenox quickly took it down. That has naturally convinced many that they really are onto something, the leading theory being that the image is from an unannounced Crash Team Racing sequel.
