Filming is about to begin on the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, and its shooting location will look very familiar to fans of The Lord of the Rings films.
The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies were filmed in New Zealand. While J.R.R. Tolkien drew inspiration for parts of Middle-earth from England, the movies chose to go with the picturesque, sunny New Zealand instead, as it’s much more visually appealing and untainted by civilization, making it ideal for a fantasy movie.
It seems that Hyrule will also be taking a trip to a land near the land down under, as IGN has reported that the live-action Legend of Zelda film will also be filming in New Zealand.
The Legend Of Zelda Movie Production Is Gearing Up
Production documents have listed the live-action Legend of Zelda movie as being “in production” and that filming will take place in Wellington, New Zealand. Many locations in Wellington were used to recreate parts of Middle-earth in the Peter Jackson movies, including Rivendell and Helm’s Deep. It has tons of gorgeous locations that could easily stand in for places in Hyrule.
