Cold War Shooter '83 Moved To 2026 Following Demo Struggles

The Cold War dragged on from 1947 until 1991, and though some moments were hairier than others, there was always the feeling that the big 'hot' war was just around the corner... until it wasn't.

Considering how upcoming shooter '83 is all about Cold-War-gone-hot in one of the tensest years of that period, it's just plain poetic that the game is also always on the verge of releasing but never seems to actually arrive.

Following a mixed public response, courtesy of the Steam Next Fest demo, Blue Dot Games has decided to postpone the early access launch of '83 into early 2026. The game was originally scheduled to come out before the end of 2025.

If you look at the development history of '83, the delay into 2026 is a nearly insignificant hurdle compared to what the team had to go through to get here.

'83 was originally being developed by Antimatter Games, but it was sent to the pits of development hell when the company folded. A team of developers involved in the project decided to try to salvage it, and after long negotiations and some Hail Mary investments from a Rising Storm...
