EA SPORTS F1 Series to Skip 2026 Release

Today, EA sent out a press release in relation to the future of its F1 series of games. These games, developed by Codemasters, have seen a yearly release dating back to 2010 on all major consoles. The company has decided to forego a 2026 release and focus on a 2027 release. This would mean a major overhaul of the series and potentially moving on from the legacy Codemasters EGO Engine the game was developed on. EA also did this with EA WRC as it moved over to the Unreal Engine. While that is not confirmed, it is confirmed that the next major Formula One video game will be F1 27, but it isn't leaving 2026 in the dust.

What is Coming in 2026 for Formula One Gamers?

F1 25 will receive a paid expansion in 2026 that will feature the official 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship, the drivers, teams, cars and sporting regulations for the season.
