In Just Two Months, Skate Has Lost Over 90 Percent Of Its Launch Playercount On Steam

It looks like Skate is struggling to keep its live-service audience's attention, as it's lost over 90 percent of its peak playercount on Steam since it launched.

When it was first announced that EA was finally going to be giving us another Skate, everyone was overjoyed. At least, they were until EA confirmed that the reboot would be a live-service game that focused on online elements, instead of a traditional single-player experience like the rest of the series.

While Skate is actually pretty well-suited to a live-service approach, all things considered, it's had a bit of a rough go of things ever since its Early Access launch two months ago. Even if a lot of players were surprised at how much fun they were having with Skate, it seems like it's not been enough to hold many players' interest for long, though.

Over on the Skate 4 subreddit, a lot of the recent posts have been about the game's falling playercount over the last few weeks. Redditor Disastrous-Club-2861 pointed out that Skate recently had 3,620 active players, a remarkable fall from its peak of 134,901 player base back when it launched on September 21....
