Udo Kier, the veteran actor who starred in more than 250 films throughout his career and was set to appear in Hideo Kojima’s upcoming horror game OD, died last Sunday, November 23.
Kier was 81 and passed away at a hospital in Palm Springs, California. The cause of death has not been disclosed. The news was confirmed by his partner, Delbert McBride, and was first reported by Variety.
Known for his extensive work in film and television, Kier built a career spanning more than six decades, with over 250 credits across international productions. He collaborated with renowned directors such as Lars von Trier, Quentin Tarantino, Dario Argento, and Kleber Mendonça Filho.
Some of his most memorable roles include Melancholia, Dogville, Nymphomaniac, Inglourious Basterds, Blade, Suspiria, Bacurau, My Own Private Idaho, Ace Ventura, Armageddon, and even the Far Cry film based on Ubisoft’s franchise.
