Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed Shadows keep us guessing with every news story. Over a week ago, the company delayed an investor call at the last minute, prompting rumours of a takeover. It turned out that the company is actually doing pretty well and Shadows sold way beyond expectations.
More recently, Shadows' Attack on Titan crossover was slammed for featuring terrible cutscenes. And, despite its success, the game's second expansion has been scrapped. Now it seems that the series will be bringing back Kassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey and even plans to keep her around for future content.
In the most recent update, Shadows finally added references to The Isu, the precursor race that featured heavily in the pre-RPG era. There was also a reference to Kassandra and other protagonists from previous games. We've already seen Kassandra make an appearance in AC Valhalla, now that she's immortal, but associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois hints that she might have a meatier role in the future.
