A former developer on the cancelled Dead Rising 5 has shared some details on the cancelled game that heavily imply it would have fixed Dead Rising 4's mistake by actually having Psychopaths.
Dead Rising 4 is widely regarded as the worst game in the series for a lot of reasons. From its butchering of Frank West's character to the janky and unsatisfying combat, there's not much positive to say about it. By far the worst thing that Dead Rising 4 did, though, is completely cut Psychopaths, the series' trademark mini-bosses, for the first time.
Every other Dead Rising game before DR4 had Psychopaths, even including the much shorter Case Zero and Case West, so it stuck out like a poor, rushed thumb when we instead got the lazy Maniacs as a peace offering. I'd say that it's the biggest sign of how far Dead Rising 4 fell from glory, and it seems like the cancelled sequel would have learned from that mistake.
For those who don't know, Capcom Vancouver was working on Dead Rising 5 before the studio shutdown, which would have starred Chuck and Katey as they fought zombies in Mexico for Day of the Dead....
