For all its substantial hype, Hytale was nearly nixed. The game that began as a custom Minecraft server returned from the dead half a year after its announced cancelation, and things seem to be moving at an impressive clip. Impressive enough, in fact, that Hytale is now gearing up for a pair of looming early access launch date: January 13, 2026.
Pre-orders start for Hytale's EA release one month prior, on December 13. But Hypixel wants fans to know what they're getting themselves into if they give Hytale a go soon - something buggy, something unfinished, something that just won't be very good. Yet.
"It's still very much unfinished and broken," the official announcement notes, and I can appreciate that they're not mincing words here. "But you have my and the team's commitment to make Hytale the game we've always wanted it to be. The game isn't good yet; eventually, it will be."
The openness is refreshing. "If you don't feel comfortable pre-ordering or participating in Early Access, please don't." What more can be said, really? Hypixel isn't laying thick pressure on folks to sample what will surely be a mess before it comes together to a significant degree....
