Developed by Hypixel Studios, Hytale is a sandbox game that nearly didn't get to see the light of day, as it was canceled by Riot Games in June. Since then, the original founders have repurchased the game, built a 50-person independent team, and announced early access will begin in January 2026.
The Hytale team has stated this will be a "true early-access" as they've reverted to an older build of the game, which they said is still unfinished and will be buggy for a while. But with a dedicated independent team and the support of the gaming community, it will be interesting to observe the progression of Hytale in 2026.
Hytale Enters Early-Access On January 13th
On November 17th, Simon Collins-Laflamme, Founder of Hypixel, posted on X to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter: "We did it. Hytale is saved. We have acquired Hytale from Riot Games."
