Marvel Cosmic Invasion director Frederic Gemus has revealed that the game almost included The Punisher as a playable hero, before another Frank Castle was suggested by Marvel.
One of the biggest swings that Marvel Cosmic Invasion makes is with its massive roster of 15 playable characters, a gargantuan amount for a pixel art beat 'em up. That roster is a mix of iconic mainstays like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Storm, along with deeper cuts like Phyla-Vell and Beta Ray Bill.
Out of all the characters, Cosmic Ghost Rider might be the most surprising pick of all, since he's both one of the most modern heroes and an alternate universe version of a character we already know and love - Frank Castle. As it turns out, the original Frank Castle was actually considered for Cosmic Invasion's roster before Marvel suggested going for a more cosmic route.
