Realistic trucking sim Euro Truck Simulator 2 has reached a brand new concurrent player count record on Steam, even though it's been over 13 years since the game first launched.

As spotted by ResetEra user Nerun, the game's concurrent Steam player count hit 72,678 yesterday, which now stands as the all-time record for the number of players checking out the meditative transport sim at once.

It's likely that the release of Euro Truck Simulator 2's Nordic Horizons DLC, as well as its Forest Machinery equipment expansion, contributed significantly to the increase in concurrent players, but it's still impressive that SCS Software's game continues to climb in terms of player count rather than falling off.

Although Euro Truck Simulator 2 reached new heights yesterday, it wasn't exactly doing poorly up until then; it's one of those rare games for which the player count has continued to increase since release, rather than diminishing.
