The Splinter Cell Remake Finally Has A New Director, Sort Of

It's been a while since we've last had a proper go at things with Sam Fisher, the beloved protagonist of Ubisoft's stealth series, Splinter Cell. In fact, next year will be a whopping 13 years since Splinter Cell: Blacklist, a game that launched on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 was released.

Since then, it's been nothing but a load of hopium, copium and whatever else you want to call it. It doesn't help that, back in 2021, Ubisoft officially revealed that the first Splinter Cell title would be getting a remake. Except, in the time since then, it's been nothing but silence and worrisome updates.

Leave it to Ubisoft to refuse to take a moral stand.

That said, here's a positive update for a change. David Grivel, who was the original director for the in-development remake and left back in 2022, has now returned to the project.

At the time, Grivel left Ubisoft in search of a "new adventure," one, that as PC Gamer first reported, took him to EA to work on Battlefield 6 as part of Ridgeline Games. Unfortunately, Ridgeline was shut down in 2024 and Grivel eventually moved to Worlds Untold, which was also unfortunately...
