Earlier this year, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead said that they're looking to tackle one of the game's biggest issues on PC: its file size.
At a whopping 150 GB, the file size of Helldivers 2 on PC is roughly three times that of its console counterparts.
Arrowhead went into detail about why this is a thing and said they're looking to take action with short-, medium-, and long-term solutions. Today on their tech blog, they revealed the long-term steps they're taking to address this issue, and it looks like they're already seeing incredible results.
As part of an update that's both currently live and in beta, the PC file size for Helldivers 2 has shrunk from roughly 150 GB to 23 GB. That's a reduction of 85%.
Please note that this fix is currently in beta, so it is recommended that you opt in with a clean installation of Helldivers 2. That means if you're running mods, the game may not work properly.
