It is finally Metroid Prime 4 release day. A day that many of you have been waiting eight years for, even 18 years if you've been sat twiddling your thumbs since finishing Metroid Prime 3. Just know, before you head into this all-new adventure, that you should tread very carefully when it comes to save files come the end of Prime 4's main story.
As has been the case with countless games throughout history, there is a "point of no return" in Metroid Prime 4. A moment where you're about to play through the end of the game and face off against its final boss, when a prompt will stop to ask if you're sure you would like to progress, warning you that there's no turning back once you do.
That's all par for the course and to be expected, and if you don't feel ready, you can simply click no and carry on exploring and upgrading. Even if you do proceed, you can usually return to an earlier save point afterwards, effectively rewinding in-game time. That is apparently not the case in Metroid Prime 4, something the writer of its GameSpot review discovered the hard way....
