Wreckreation developer Three Fields Entertainment has put its entire team on redundancy notice, with its CEO claiming that the studio is unsustainable in its current form.
In a post on LinkedIn (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz), CEO Fiona Sperry says that Three Fields "will not see revenue from game sales for the foreseeable future", and that Wreckreation publisher THQ Nordic isn't providing support for the studio to continue working on the game.
As a result, Sperry says she and her team "simply cannot sustain [Three Fields] in its current form", and that despite the work the developer has put into Wreckreation since it launched in October, Three Fields now faces a "stark reality".
As part of the LinkedIn post, Sperry includes a sizzle reel of "features, updates, and creative ideas" that Three Fields was planning to bring to Wreckreation in the future.
She says she hopes that the reel might provide an "opportunity" in the form of another publisher who sees the "potential" of what the team was trying to build with the racing sandbox, but that even if this doesn't happen, the video will "stand as a testament" to Three Fields' "vision".
Although Wreckreation likely won't receive any further updates in future,...
