The upcoming second season of Fallout brings our ensemble cast to New Vegas, the setting of Obsidian Entertainment's beloved spin-off. With that creative decision comes a sense of responsibility to fans of New Vegas, who want their in-game decisions respected and their favourite wasteland faithfully adapted.
The show takes place in 2296, fourteen years after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam. The outcome of that battle, along with every other variable in New Vegas, have been obfuscated in the show through something the showrunners are calling the "fog of war." In other words, the show won't directly address any of New Vegas' major decisions.
Fans expected Fallout: New Vegas' Mr. House ending to be made canon in the show, but it sounds like none of them will be.
It's going to be interesting to see how this applies to Mr House, who we know plays a major role in the upcoming season. House's fate is highly variable; he could be unceremoniously slain by the Courier, or he could end up ruling New Vegas with an iron fist.
In the trailer, we see House interacting with the pre-war Cooper Howard, questioning the actor on his motivations.
