Arc Raiders only took home one award at TGA this year - Best Multiplayer Game - but even that's proving contentious, as many argue that the AI voice acting should have disqualified it from being nominated in the first place.

"Split Fiction is one of the greatest co-op games of all time with a plot about a machine stealing people's stories, and it just lost to Arc raiders and its AI voices," @hzjoe03 posted on X.

"Gotta hope DICE and BAFTA got a bit more respect for the industry," @RandySTG replied.

Arc Raiders has been mired in controversy since launch for its use of AI, which was first disclosed in by Embark CCO Stefan Strandberg in an interview with Eurogamer, where he explained that the game uses an AI-assisted text to speech system for more mundane elements, sourced from voice actors who gave their permission.

Many players have pointed to the actor's approval as a defence of the practice, noting that, unlike other tools, it didn't pilfer from copyrighted material. However, the issue is more complex than consent forums.
