It seems that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 didn’t just steal thousands of gamers’ hearts this year, but it also snatched the coveted Game of the Year prize and made serious history at The Game Awards, the biggest awards show in the video game industry.

Sandfall Interactive’s RPG won in 9 categories (yeah, you read it right) during the ceremony that revealed the winners of The Game Awards 2025 – and that impressive haul sets a brand-new record for the show.

The RPG Giant Eclipses The Last of Us Part II's Record

With its win in 8 different categories, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 officially surpassed The Last of Us Part II for the highest number of awards received in a single edition of The Game Awards, since Naughty Dog’s title had previously held the record with seven victories back in 2020.

This is definitely no small feat, as other heavyweight titles that have also won multiple awards in different categories include modern giants like Baldur’s Gate 3 and God of War Ragnarök. The RPG has firmly placed itself in the pantheon of the show’s most decorated games.
