Crystal Dynamics is busy. Very busy. It's busy with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a gorgeous-looking reimagining of the original Lara Croft experience. It's busy with Tomb Raider: Catalyst, Lara's next big adventure, coming to PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027. And it's busy telling fans what they most desperately wished to know: when, precisely, Catalyst takes place.
I reckon it will be a welcome bit of news, then, to learn that Tomb Raider: Catalyst is truly Lara Croft's latest adventure. It's the long-awaited next chapter that follows on from Tomb Raider: Underworld, a game that will be nearly two decades old when Catalyst's quest across Northern India comes to fruition.
As GamesRadar+ reports, game director Will Kerslake wasted no time making a mystery out of the canon query, telling the publication that Catalyst is "set years after the events of Tomb Raider: Underworld." For the uninitiated, that puts it ahead of the Legacy trilogy - ergo, ahead of everything that's come before it.
