While Team Cherry and Hollow Knight: Silksong were snubbed at The Game Awards, at least in my honest opinion, it clearly didn’t hurt the game’s momentum. Despite the many years it took to finally arrive, the developer has confirmed that Silksong was a massive success, selling over seven million copies worldwide, not including players accessing the game through Xbox Game Pass.

So, what does a team do after finally releasing one of the most anticipated games of the decade? They announce DLC. Team Cherry has confirmed the first expansion, Hollow Knight: Silksong – Sea of Sorrow, is already in development. Even better, players won’t have to wait years to experience it, as it will be released at an announced 2026 release date.
