Hollow Knight: Silksong's Free DLC Is Generating Some Wild Fan Theories

Despite some disappointment surrounding Team Cherry's decision not to make an appearance at this year's Game Awards, it seems more than worth it with the latest announcements regarding Hollow Knight: Silksong and its continued development. On top of additional merchandise and a Switch 2 edition of its predecessor, Silksong is already teasing its first major DLC, "Sea of Sorrows," with a teaser trailer that's raising more questions than answers.

As if the surprise trailer reveal wasn't exciting enough on its own, the announcement also revealed that the DLC would be entirely free for all players, which is bringing even more attention to the trailers being posted online by users like Cubeseer on Reddit. Even if the teaser itself didn't reveal much, fans have already been piecing together some unique theories that are making a surprising amount of sense.

Arriving to all Silksong players sometime in 2026, one of the best indie games of 2025 seems like it will only get better with the upcoming update, which promises to provide a "Voyage across and beneath the salt-stricken seas in this thrilling expansion."
