Pokémon is here to stay. It's been here all along, proving '90s parents wrong that it was "just a fad." Billions of dollars later, there are droves of games under its belt, including brand-new entries and remakes. But many fans want more and are willing to do something about it.

Over on Poke Community, the LibertyTwins development team shared a new project: a complete visual and musical overhaul of Pokémon Red/Fire Red. The sheer scope is awe-inspiring, and it looks great too.

LibertyTwins' mission for Pokémon Aesthetic Red is to preserve the core experience of the original Pokémon adventure while improving the visuals and audioof the first generation. "Inspired by the DS and Game Boy," the aesthetics are striking and clean, while the soundtrack aims to do the same on an audio level.

It's impressive just how expansive this remake is. There's an utter aesthetic overhaul (as one may have guessed from the title), with remixed music and visuals. Gyms can be challenged in any order you choose, and Kanto and the Sevii Islands are completely open world. "All" Generation 1 & 2 Pokémon are available (including their evolutionary tracks).
