It has been announced that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will soon be a standalone mode.

On the PlayStation Blog, it was announced that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be available on its own without having to own the single-player version of Ghost of Tsushima. Starting on September 3rd, Legends will be available to purchase on its own. The mode will run for $19.99. With the exception of some cosmetics that can only be unlocked during the single-player campaign, this version of Legends will include all of the content released for the mode so far. For those who wish to later purchase Ghost of Tsushima's single-player campaign, they can upgrade to Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut for $40 on the PlayStation 4 or $50 on the PlayStation 5.

A new mode was also revealed for Legends. The new mode is called Rivals, which has two teams compete to defeat waves of enemies. Every time a foe is defeated, players will gain Magatama that can be used to harm the other team. Rivals will release on September 3rd.

On the same day as Rivals, the Gear Mastery system will also be released. The Gear Mastery system is a new expansion of the progression systems and rewards for Legends. Those who have earned 110-level gear will now be able to bind it to a class and activate "Mastery Challenges." Doing so will allow a piece of gear's Ki level to be upgraded to 120 and eventually unlock a second perk slot. As gamers activate Mastery Challenges, they will be able to unlock a new ability and new Techniques for each class.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will become its own mode on September 3rd for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will release for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 20th.
