Ghost of Tsushima Reviews Summary

Summary: Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best samurai games ever made, and a great way to close out the PS4's incredible run of exclusive titles. It has its flaws, but most critics had a great time overall.

Beautiful Open World

The game's diverse world is filled with beautiful visuals and vistas.

Sense of Style

Ghost of Tsushima commits to its samurai style in both its storytelling and combat with great success.

Repetitive Side Quests

As the game goes on, some of its side activities and gameplay loops begin to feel repetitive.

In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan. As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands as one of the last surviving members of his clan. He is resolved to do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima. • In War-Torn Tsushima, Ancient Beauty Endures: In this open-world action adventure, you’ll roam vast countrysides and expansive terrain to encounter rich characters, discover ancient landmarks, and uncover the hidden beauty of Tsushima. • The Rise of the Ghost: In his quest to reclaim Tsushima, Jin must seek support from old friends and new unlikely allies. He must break away from tradition, become a new kind of warrior, and protect what’s left of his home at all costs. • Mud, Blood, and Steel: Challenge opponents with your katana for an immersive samurai combat experience, master the bow to eliminate distant threats, and develop stealth tactics to disorient and ambush enemies with surprise attacks.

Limited by a rote and rigid world, Sucker Punch's samurai homage pairs okay action with enjoyably committed, if awkwardly fawning melodrama.

A competent but shallow and overfamiliar attempt to replicate Assassin's Creed style open world adventure in the world of 13th century samurai.

Ghost of Tsushima is not just another open-world game. It is a mashup and reinvention of the open-world formula, littered with new ideas and innovations that truly make it stand out amongst the ever-growing open-world bandwagon. Sucker Punch Productions’ samurai action-adventure game sucker-punches the staleness of open-world games and carves out its own unique design philosophy

Ghost of Tsushima is a masterclass in storytelling, and a near flawless example of accessible and immersive gameplay. The story follows widely varied characters and backgrounds, each one with their own ambitions and morality. The main themes of loss, betrayal, and hopelessness are never far from the player's mind, abated only temporarily by the gorgeous scenery and locales

I am now a Samurai game fan where I wasn't before. I hadn't had a lot of luck with Samurai-style games in the past, having died far too frequently in other series to want to give this game a try when it came out, but listening to game reviewers and their insistence that this was not a game where I would die over and over within the first few minutes of the game, I decided

Ghost of Tsushima A dishonorable path A slave no longer Ghost of Tsushima Review How is Ghost of Tsushima’s parrying system? Does the combat rely heavily on tropes? How is the open world? Is Jin as a character outshined? How is the narrative? These are all questions I had going into Ghost of Tsushima and questions I hope to answer in my review below. While preview coverage
